The Best Travel Headphones Are the Bose Studio 3

Recently I found myself settled in on a flight to Orlando, Florida for vacation, only to discover after take-off that I was surrounded by at least three screaming children—also presumably headed to Disney, like I was. My contingency plan for the three-hour flight was simple: one audiobook on my phone and a few TV shows that I downloaded on my Amazon Fire tablet would keep me occupied. But I really wouldn’t have made it without my Beats headphones, and here’s why.

Traveling, of course, can be especially noisy. Be it a plane, car, or train, you will always be surrounded by noise (loud snorers, the droning of the engines, and chatty passengers are just a few of the worst offenders). But once I slip on my Beats, it’s like the entire world falls away. With “active noise-cancelling” mode on, the talking and screaming of the people around me fades to a distant, muffled sound that barely even registers as I take in the sounds of Outlander (my new favorite show obsession).

As somewhat of a techie (I tend to carry multiple devices), I also love that I can connect my Beats to more than one device and seamlessly switch between my phone and tablet depending on my mood. These headphones also fold for easy transportation and storage, and the comfortable foam earpads mean they never give me a headache, unlike other over-the-ear headphones I’ve owned in the past.

The best part about these headphones, though, is the battery life. I fully charged them before leaving on vacation and I didn’t have to juice up at all during my trip. The 22-hour battery life more than covered my few days away, though your own mileage may vary. They’re splurge-y, because they’re Beats (and the audio quality is great), but considering how much I use them, the cost-per-wear is basically next to nothing and the sound quality beats out any other competition I’ve tried. They’re ideal for cutting down on background noise at the office when I need to hunker down, and have also become my go-to “tune out” headphones on the 20-minute walk to and from work, and anywhere I need peace and quiet: with them on, vacation is really just a state of mind.
