Fans of one trendy and delicious—and SELF Healthy Food Award-winning—cold-pressed watermelon water may want to check their bottles: World Waters LLC is voluntarily recalling several lots of WTRMLN WTR due to the potential presence of plastic, according to a statement on the FDA website.
Specifically, the company is recalling 18 lots of the original watermelon-flavored WTRMLN WTR 12-packs, which were sent to retailers nationwide between December 22, 2018, and February 5, 2019. They’re being recalled thanks to the possible presence of “soft plastic that may be loosely floating in some of the finished products,” the company said in the announcement.
And plastic is also just not something you really want in your refreshing bottle of watermelon juice. That said, the company noted in the statement that there have not been any reports of adverse reactions or illnesses related to the recall to date. The recall is “out of an abundance of caution and to ensure consumer safety,” the statement said.
The only way to know if your bottle is affected is to check the lot number, printed on the bottom. The affected lot numbers are listed here on the FDA site. If your juice is included in the recall, World Waters will provide you with a coupon for a replacement with proof of purchase.
While you’re at it, you might want to check your chicken nuggets as well. As SELF wrote last week, two brands of nuggets have been involved in three recalls recently for the possible presence of unwanted substances—one for an undeclared milk allergen, another involving rubber, and the final one for the possible presence of wood (yes, wood).
